Man, the stoner rock parade of excellence simply will not stop! The Atomic Bitchwax, with members of Monster Magnet and Godspeed, jams – plain and simple. Totally heavy, like a bunch of whales at the ocean bottom cranking out a few calls before a squid hunt. Darkness, then pulses of ultraviolet light reveal writhing, naked female bodies just out of reach. The electric blues and greens bounce off their undulating bodies as the waves carry their neon air bubbles to the surface, a million miles above.
Get the picture? And that’s only after listening to a couple of songs, manly “Birth to the Earth” and “Kiss the Sun.” Along with the extremely heavy psychedelic blues metal, they jam out with some more straight-ahead but full-on heavy rock on “Gettin’ Old,” “Last of the V8 Interceptors,” and a cover Tommy Bolin’s “Crazed Fandango.” It’s damned heavy and their direction is right – right on , that is.
