Lil’ Ed & The Blues Imperials

Get Wild!

Alligator

Fronted by Ed Williams, Lil’ Ed & The Blues Imperials play a festive, bouncy brand of electric blues. The first few tracks on the CD seem to bubble with the influence of the Stray Cats and some earlier British blues. In addition to the party songs, this album is balanced with several “traditional” numbers, such as “Too Late” and “Once in a Lifetime.” Party songs are fun, but the slow, smoky, juke-joint tracks are essential to Get Wild! , lest we forget that the blues was given its name for a reason. Fans of other Alligator artists, like Lonnie Brooks and Dave Hole, will like this album as well.
