Tight Bros From Way Back When

Runnin’ Thru My Bones

Kill Rock Stars

I just realized I severely slagged Cinderella in a review of their new live album, and now I’m about to give a rave review to something that’s nearly the same thing. In fact, I’ve been listening to the Tight Boys From Way Back When over and over again for the last week every morning before catching the train.

The Tight Boys From Way Back When sound like the Stooges on speed. Really! They’re ultra fast and ultra trashy. The vocals come off like a wailing banshee imitating Iggy Pop. I mean, he screeeeeems like he’s attempting the world record HALO jump and he just realized he forgot his parachute – but, what the heck, I’ll land on my feet anyway!

The problem I have is that this rocks and, well, damn! If Cinderella put the pedal to the metal, they’d sound like this! Man, if the poser rockers out there would get some serious momentum going the world would be a different place. It’s the mph, dudes.

Back to the Tight Boys From Way Back When… Like I said, fast, speedy, screaming punk rock blitzes. Starts off with “Hurricane,” a rousing tune beginning with “All right let’s go!” then it’s right into “Workin’ Overtime,” “That’s a Promise” and “Gimmie Luv.” Eight more songs follow. What I especially dug about this album was the fact that the band pledges allegiance to speed, speed, and more speed. Checking out their lyrics, hmm, on a par with Mötörhead. Not much substance, but who cares, it’s all about driving 110 on the shoulder!
