Nina Hynes

Creation

Reverb

Let me start off by saying Nina Hynes has a lovely, expressive voice that I’d be happy to listen to. Let me also say her album Creation is – at best – muddled. With mixtures of folk, prog rock, and ethereal Kate Bush/Clannad/Enya kind of sounds, it is a challenging listen, and I don’t mean that in the way Rodan or Azalia Snail can be a challenging listen. This is just hard to listen to, with no payoff for your patience. I kept waiting for the fog to break and for Nina Hynes sweet Irish voice to get a chance to shine, but alas, that never happened.
