“Draco’s coming down, so keep your head up.” Indeed, what a pleasant record to help keep your head up. This Japanese duo nicely merge solid beats with plenty of soul, tasteful electronics, and pop guitars and sensibility. The result is sweet, yes, but retains enough substance to keep it from just being fluff. “If You Want To Mek It” is frighteningly radio friendly, but I certainly wouldn’t trade those hooks just for insurance that this would stay a secret treat. Another favorite ultra-catchy number is “Buttercup,” which brings up mixed thoughts of Bjork and Frente.

Draco balances varied styles with careful grace. The result is a record that’s fun, very danceable, and not at all disposable.
