Shannon Wright

Maps Of Tacit

Quarterstick

Songwriting has always been Shannon Wright’s strongest suit. Ever since her time with her band, Crowsdell, Shannon Wright has had an ability to write lyrics that were simultaneously deeply personal and yet quite accessible. Wright’s newest record, Maps Of Tacit, is easily her least accessible, yet one of her most intriguing recordings. The album – on which Wright plays virtually all the instruments herself – is a deeply personal statement that at times threatens to baffle rather than engage her listeners. It is only after listening to the album several times does the veneer crack and begin to allow the listener into Shannon Wright’s world. The record is a challenge, but the rewards are great for those willing to make the journey.
