Michal

Sky With Stars

RPM/Columbia

Michal is part of the youth movement in pop music. As the demographic base gets younger, the age of artists signed to major labels is also getting increasingly younger. In her late teens, Michal really should be starting to earn her chops in coffeehouses in North Babylon or Soho. Instead, she has a major record deal. The biggest problem is she doesn’t really have enough performance experience behind her to carry some less than groundbreaking songs. I have to admit to liking her song “My Friend.” The bouncy, up-tempo number opens the disc, and the rest of Sky With Stars is – at best – generic and forgettable.
