Jets To Brazil
Four Cornered Night
Jade Tree
This second album made me listen to it a few more times than the first one before it captured me within its brilliance, but it was definitely worth the wait. The album starts out with an almost jaunty day in the park kinda riff, and there it moves to an almost acoustic minimal sound, which threw me off at first. Fortunately, the intensity is still there, the voice is still there, almost breaking at times, stronger than steel at times. It’s not as angry, but still has that spark of cynicism. The guitars still cut, the drums still roll straight, and the lyrics are still poetry. I mean, how many singers can sing “shaky somnambulists” and still sound profound? Wonderful.
