Hits Daily Double

http://www.hitsdailydouble.com/

Hits Magazine has always enjoyed a reputation for playfully biting the hand that feeds. This long-running industry tip-sheet and gossip rag makes a point of skewring just about everything they talk about, but despite the smirking tone and cynical outlook, Hits manages to inform as much as entertain. The corresponding web site provides pretty much the digital equivalent, in an evanescent digital format which is far easier to dispose of, though it doesn’t wrap fish or line bird cages quite as well. The site is updated daily, as far as I’ve been able to tell, and alongside music industry news, it offers charts (with streaming audio samples) and contests. Alongside the requisite search function, there’s an under-construction “Player Profiles” section that promises to give you bios on “industry heavyweights”. Overall, it’s a pretty entertaining way to get the inside track on the biz.
