Always Say Please and Thank You

Alternative Tentacles

While the sound may lead you to believe this is the purest alt.country ever to come out of Denver, the fact that it’s out on bizarro fetish label Alternative Tentacles will clue you in to its quirks of nature. Songs lile “Viceroy Filter King” and “Pine Box” hit a bullseye as far as crying-in-your-beer material goes, but the upbeat “Last Song About Satan” and “Goddamn Blue Yodel #7” blaze a trail all their own. Also of note is “In My Arms Once Again,” a wistful number that makes good use of the accordion.
