Five Eight

The Good Nurse

Deep Elm

Five Eight are a rock trio out of Athens, Georgia. The Good Nurse follows a string of releases during the ’90s. Principal songwriter and vocalist Mike Manione passionately vocalizes his demons through deep, retrospective lyrics, often through the eyes of an innocent child. While The Good Nurse has its share of whiney, heartbroken ballads, most of the album rocks, with some of the harder tracks akin to early Nirvana, with equal parts punk and grunge. The band performs some excellent extended jams throughout the record, even making use of a banjo on several tracks. The Good Nurse is an incredibly rich album with great guitar hooks and songwriting that leaves you wanting more.
