Brujeria
Brujerizmo
Roadrunner/Kool Arrow
Does anyone even care about Brujeria anymore? I mean, didn’t this joke get old five years ago? Apparently not, as Brujeria returns unnoticed to the joke-metal fold with their third album, Brujerizmo, their first in – yep – five years. Hey, the lyrics are in Spanish! Hey, those crazy lyrics are growled! Hey, they’ve got crazier covers than Cannibal Corpse! Hey, this is heavier than Limp Bizkit! Hey, I think they just said something about marijuana! Hey, we don’t know who you mysterious guys are! (Actually, I do: among others, Fear Factory’s Dino Cazares and Burton D. Bell and Faith No More’s Bill Gould.) After all, there’s a whole new generation of jokers weaned on the Insane Clown Posse, Kid Rock, and Korn who are gonna think “this shit’s brutal, bro!” As for me, I’ll be selling my copy to some mustachioed mallrat hangin’ outside the local Dairy Mart.
