Unified Theory
Unified Theory
3:33/Universal
As the cover art might suggest, this album has a sort of underwater sound to it. Between the high range of the vocalist, the extreme reverb on the back up vocals, and the guitar effects, Unified Theory floats its way into our heads.
The first track, “Cessna,” is about a plane crash (Cessna is a company that makes small planes). It was an interesting decision for this pop/alternative rock band to open the album with a song about a plane crash. To some listeners, this might suggest a doomed fate for the rest of the album. In a sense, this assessment wouldn’t be completely inaccurate. “Cessna” is in fact one of the best songs on the CD, but the other songs aren’t without merit. Next on the disc is California,” yet another California glorification song. Don’t get me wrong, I like California as much as the next guy, but I’m getting a little sick of hearing about it from every band I listen to. Aside from the lyrics, “California” is another one of the best songs on the album. Track eight, “Self Medicate,” is also in league with the first two tracks. This debut album holds a lot of potential, and Unified Theory is worth looking into and following.
