Lila Downs

Tree of Life

Even thought it’s en Español, you can really get into the deep Spanish beats and infecting rhythm of Lila Downs. For those of you who have to know what a song means but don’t know a lick of Spanish, the at times flamenco-like disc comes with English translation of the words. The underlying voice of Tree of Life seems to be the along the lines of what’s scrawled on the back cover of the album: “From a tree is born the fruit of humanity, the fruits of her fertility will become the mother earth.” It’s great for dancing, better for yoga, and makes the perfect background music for almost any occasion. It’s one of the newest editions from Narada (New Age buffs, you know what this is), and it’s of course nothing but first class culture.

Narada World, 4650 N. Port Washington Road, Milwaukee, WI
