The Mystick Krewe of Clearlight

The Mystick Krewe of Clearlight

Whoa… sounds, colors… dude. Seriously, though, this must be a tactical goof. Featuring members of Eyehategod, Crowbar, and Down, the Mystick Krewe of Clearlight is a party band of the Big Easy’s metal hipoisie, but this ain’t metal – not even close. Not that that’s a bad thing, but jam rock, the kind of which sounds like any handful of dropouts littering every Collegetown, USA?! Yep. Again, not that that’s a bad thing – after all, the five-piece’s eponymous debut will surely lure in a goodly deal of the genre’s proponents, and there are scant moments of “heaviness” – but the record’s also on Tee Pee, so you kinda expect some metal, or at least some skronky, scuzzy rawk. So, with that in mind, will The Mystick Krewe of Clearlight be peddled to the readers of Metal Maniacs, or those of Relix? Dunno, really – but, frankly, I don’t care.
