This album should really be titled Trance by the Sea. In the first track, Dunne seems to mix those new age nature recordings with your run-of-the-mill trance recording. Seagulls and waves and a steady dance beat. After the first track, the listener is thrown from the peaceful shore into the violent waters of trance. The more dark and sinister sounds of trance come out for the rest of the CD. It is here that the listener rests after being deceptively wooed into the album. In my opinion, Sunrise Sessions would hold its own a lot better if the first track were thrown out. On the other hand, it does serve as a nice little introduction. Just don’t be caught off guard when the heavy artillery comes out after the first track.
