Sugar & Spice

Soundtrack

Trauma

One striking feature of this soundtrack is how dated some of the music feels. A movie about bank robbing cheerleaders should have a really hip soundtrack. Instead, it’s populated with stuff that just doesn’t quite fit. It’s like someone’s dad’s idea of what’s hip. “Ready To Go” from Republika is several years old and is harder to kill than Rasputin, and the best track on the disc is Cindy Alexander’s cover of a 25-year-old Tom Petty song (“American Girl”). I just don’t see the girls in the movie actually listening to any of the songs on the disc. But hey, it’s a movie about cheerleaders robbing a bank! Who’s listening to the soundtrack except for total geeks• err• I think I’ll quit while I’m ahead.
