Ian Epps

Audiophone

Dead CEO

Isn’t it wonderful when a record is as cozy as your furniture? Audiophone is a lovely bit of post-digital warmth that sounds more like Microstoria than Oval. Ian Epps is a multimedia artist (both video and audio? yow!) who can easily make the most avant-garde electronic music sound accessible. 86 tracks span over 46 minutes, making this an ideal release for shuffle-play pleasure. The same melodic theme seems to crop up repeatedly in slightly different incarnations, occasionally granulated, slightly echoed, and mostly effected. Audiophone is ideal for short-attention span computer geeks, if you don’t like it, wait a few seconds, and it’ll change soon enough.
