Rivulets

Rivulets

Chair Kickers’ Union Inc.

Intense slowcore, this, from Duluth’s Nathan Amundson. Beautifully conceived and executed, this is the sound of a quiet whisper in the night, monotonously pulsating and organic music dominated by Amundson’s droning vocals and basic acoustic guitar performance. Low’s Alan Sparhawk has recorded the album and guests on it alongside bandmate Mimi Parker, as well as Flare’s L.D. Beghtol. These artists should provide you with a clue as to how this album sounds, although they’re both in fact rather heavy-sounding compared to the utter stillness of Amundson’s world. Strangely captivating, this demands your full attention not only to be appreciated, but probably even to be registered at all.
