Thee STP

Supersinner

Devil Doll

You know what you’re getting with Thee STP – contemporary stoner/garage rock, in the vein of The Hellacopters and Gluecifer, riff-heavy rawk, and songs about partying and life on the road. Thee STP are undoubtedly Italia’s finest working band in this tradition, and this album collects their finest moments and adds quite a few live cuts as well. Think New York Dolls with more than a fair share of The Cramps thrown in the mix, and you’ll know whether this is for you or not. It’s not profound and surely it’s not life-altering, but it’s good time classic rock and Thee STP are really good at it. They don’t always manage to put the wild abandon inherent in this music to tape, but some of the live tracks are amazing, and the most recent takes in particular – the live tracks from 2001 – are brilliant fun and super energetic premier punk.
