Tora! Tora! Torrance!

Get Into It

The Militia Group

Let’s talk about sex baby / God knows we got it on the brain,” Tora! Tora! Torrance! sing on “Hottest Pants.” And from then on in, that’s just what they set about doing. Hailing from Minneapolis, Tora! Tora! Torrance! (or !TTT! among friends) deliver garage-y hardcore with a wicked, smart punch that sets them apart from most other garage revivalists these days.

!TTT! have more in common with bands like Mclusky and Liars than your regular Hives and Strokes, and their chaotically angular, frantic hardcore avoids the muddy traps of trendiness. Tracks like “Killer Cut the Phone Line” and “Wear a Ski Mask” are great and energetic slabs of up and about rock that should have you dancing or at least taking sips from your beer mug at a regular pace.

If they avoid getting caught up in the unavoidable hype machinery that will follow, and continue to focus on creating abrasive, in your face music, !TTT! will be a great band to watch.
