Micky Finn

The Takeover Bid II

DMC

Legendary drum n’ bass / junglist DJ Micky Finn knows how to maintain interest during his sets, and proves exactly how on this second d n’ b mix for the DMC Presents series. Through a disruptive sequence of wide-ranging tracks – taking in the urging techno of Special K & Darren Jay, the dubby d n’ b of Aquasky, the r=EDn=EDb-infused, junglist DJ Marky & KRS, and the smooth Roni Size-remix of JB & DJ Spice’s “Me, Myself & I” – Finn takes the listener on a ride that becomes increasingly harder, edgier and more progressive as we move along.

It’s an eclectic and even disparate mix, but Finn knows how to make a purposeful whole of it all, and the album feels strangely rounded and considered. No surprise, perhaps, that this will work even better on the dance floor than in your living room, but The Takeover Bid is still destined to appeal to head, heart and feet.
