Never Heard of It

Limited Edition

Unmotivated

Look out folks, here comes the obligatory band that sounds like a cross between Blink 182, Sum 41 and New Found Glory – there seems to be at least one in a day’s worth of album review. This time around, we have Never Heard of It, or N.H.O.I. as they like to be referred to as. Their album is Limited Edition, and I’m now rubbing my eyes after waking from the coma into which it put me.

I’m not sure why so many bands have to play this kind of music. It’s guitar-driven, whiney-voiced pop that, without the distorted guitars and loud drums, would sound like N’Sync on speed. I’d be willing to guess that these guys fancy themselves as “emo punks,” for the back of their CD looks like an Abercrombie & Fitch advertisement. There is no genuine or actual emotion on Limited Edition, but plenty of posturing and mannerisms that these guys probably think is “emotional.”

Perhaps I’m being too hard on N.H.O.I., but I can’t quite grasp why any band would want to make yet another copy of Blink 182’s Enema of the State. I understand that that record influenced a ton of young kids, but it really isn’t all that good. This stuff is intolerably boring and meaningless. I’m sure that Limited Edition will probably help the guys in this band pick up chicks and will get them invited to more high school “keggers,” but I just can’t get into this. Yuck.
