The Sound of the Crowd

Anything my daddy did, I can do better, and I hate the place whe

I got the story below from Josh Marshall’s Talking Points Memo site, which you’ll note over there on the right somewhere is one of those to which I’ve permanently linked this blog. I do that with sites that have so much good stuff I’d be linking to them a dozen times a day if I wasn’t careful. I strongly recommend you check out the site today–not only does it have the aforementioned angering story, but this one about how “president” Bush is assulating the CIA. “president” Bush’s father was, let’s not forget, head of the CIA. Hm. The story ends with a devastating paragraph:

“The Democrats, in the senate minority, forced to act like a fringe group, held unofficial hearings this week with prominent former CIA agents: rock-ribbed Republicans who all voted for and even contributed money to Bush, but expressed their amazed anger at the assault being waged on the permanent national security apparatus by the Republican president whose father’s name adorns the building where they worked. One of them compressed his disillusionment into the single most resonant word an intelligence agent can muster: “betrayal”.
