The Sound of the Crowd

Ok, let me get this straight–you should pardon the expression.

Two girls were suspended from high school for kissing. That’s not the weird part. One now faces disqualification from the National Honor Society. That’s not the weird part. The girls are straight–that’s not even the weird part. Would you like to know the weird part?

(That sound you hear is my friends Moya and/or Stefan saying “Tell me about the weird part, Ben.”)

The weird part is that apparently, the girls “very public display of protest in the form of a kiss was part of an English class assignment that required students to perform a ‘non-conformist’ act.”

I’m going to say that again. Slowly. A school…mandated…non-conformist act.

I’m not following this…
