Where are we going and why are we in this handbasket?
OK, so we’re in Iraq. I was pretty much opposed to our doing that at all, and definitively opposed to the reasons we were given for doing it and the way we did it. But we’re there now, and if at all possible, we’ve got to find a way to make it better and get out. Unfortunately, “getting out” seems to be the watchword of the day, as the Neocons realize that every dead soldier is a lot more than one less vote for Bush. We’re trying desperately to get out of Iraq, not because our “mission is accomplished” but because we’ve lost control. We’ve tried to convince other countries to save us, but most of them–quite rightly, in my opinion–are taking the stance of “you made your bed…”
Or, as my friends Josh Marshall, Joe Biden, and John McCain would say…
