The Sound of the Crowd

Distortions, bent truths and a lazy press, oh my

Here’s a good article on both the distortions and bent truths of our old friends the Bush administration, and the equally disturbing fact that virtually nothing seems to get done about it. That the White House feels the need to demonize Al Qaeda–that is, to make them seem worse than they are (!) ought to speak for itself. The article’s written by David Corn, who is the editor of The Nation and is also the author of a new book catchily entitled “The Lies of George W. Bush.” I haven’t read the book, but I have it on reserve at the library and there’s a review coming up in Ink 19 by James Mann, edited by me. A final thought: Has it ever been more plain why some people go into the defense department?
