The Sound of the Crowd

It’s about time somebody apologized…

The editor of The Progressive Review offers a list of apologies for things his generation has done to mine, including damage done to the constitution, the enviroment, democracy itself, politics, the economy, and society. As well he might. He then raises the valid point that they also: “launched the civil rights, women’s, gay, and environmental movements,” before losing points with me with an entirely gratuitous attack on disco and Bill Clinton, two flawed, marvelous institutions that I’ve had a lot of exuberance for in my youth.

So tell me, children, what does it all mean?It means the boomers are making their peace with god…and that means a time is coming soon where I won’t have to hear about the Beatles every single day for the rest of my life.
