Oscuro

Oscuro

Pascal

Oscuro is the project of Steve Denny, a guitarist and electronic artist performing hypnotic ambient art rock influenced by North African music, film noir and meditation music. This debut is a quietly introspective yet impressively varied collection of tracks poised between British art-prog and dwelling new age, favoring repetition and mood over dynamic composition. From the rather straightforward reverb-laden guitar number “Daigoro” to the trip-hop like “Triana” and the post-rocking “Sparks,” Oscuro may reach for a bit more than it can handle, but it remains an engaging and strong collection of darkly tinged music. There’s a lot of music to wring your head around here, but it’s solid enough to make it worth your time and effort.
