Dude, that’s cold
MSNBC has an article on The curse of the Ziering, that being a term they’ve coined in honor of a certain 90210 actor to represent those stars of popular television series who, when the series is over can be counted upon to drop off the face of the earth.
They even have a chart of those from series going off the air whom they think will be next year’s Philip Michael Thomas. I have no quarrel with most of their choices, but I kinda hope they’re wrong about this one:
“Courteney Cox is pretty hot, but in the “Friends” class, she’s the Most Likely To Ziering. The other Friends have put together spin-offs and development deals, or made headway in their movie careers; Cox has a producer credit on a so-so decorating show and a baby on the way. The other Friends have Emmy noms; Cox does not. Unless the “Ace Ventura” franchise is resurrected, she’s on her way from Friend to footnote.”
Movie career, Emmy noms or not, on “Friends” I always thought Cox was the best actress of the three women. If you watch her character, she’s almost always the only one who reacts in any scene the way a normal human being would, even if she doesn’t have any dialogue. The others seem to drift into a “wait, wait, wait, my joke, wait, wait…” zone.
