Now this is The Awful Truth. I’ve often said from time to time that in my most toxically cynical moments, I’m afraid that the reason Republians tend to win is that they have accepted and learned to use to their advantadge that which Democrats would spend their whole lives denying:
Most of the people in this country are rock, bone, stick stupid.
American Prospect’s Michael Tomasky doesn’t go that far…but I think he has the same bad feeling in his stomach as I do.
Am I crazy, or is a Gore/Dean ticket starting to look really good right now? Because at least then, our candidates wouldn’t have the millstone of having voted for the terrible, destructive lie of Iraq around their necks, and might actually be able to take both hands out from behind their backs.
But again, see above. “Most of the people in this country” includes politicians too, folks.
