The Sound of the Crowd

That’s All, Folks

Amid from Cartoon Brew has some good comments about the latest slap in the face masquerading as a “re-imagining” of the classic Warner Bros. cartoon characters.

I agree with most everything in it, so I’ll only add the following. Always, always, always, always remember this: “Re-imagining” is a meaningless word.

“Imagination” is defined as “the act or power of forming a mental image of something not present to the senses or never before wholly perceived in reality.” You can’t “re-imagine” something.

“Re-imaginging” is a word used by people who have no skill for storytelling or presenting characters of their own. It’s no coincidence that it first started being tossed around in publicity for the Tim Burton Planet of the Apes.
