Darling, I don’t know why I go to extremes
Short but good article on Jon Stewart. Including the best metaphor for right vs. left I’ve heard in almost 15 years:
“Those on the far right are trying to take us back to a golden era that never existed,” he said. “The far left wants to be so fair and just that your day is an endless series of apologies.”
The previous record holder, BTW, was Dave Barry, who said the difference between Democrats and Republicans was that that if your car broke down on the side of the road, and a Democrat drove by, he would stop and try to help you, but in so doing, would set your car on fire. A Republican, on the other hand, would know exactly what to do to fix your car, but he wouldn’t stop because he didn’t want to be late for “ugly pants night” at the country club.
