After the big fact of Plamegate, namely that members of our government lied to Congress and the American people in order to drum up support for countering an non-existent threat, the second point was to push any discussion or investigation on the war until after the elections of 2004.
Has anyone noticed that the coverup worked?
In his impressive presentation of the indictment of Lewis “Scooter” Libby last week, Patrick Fitzgerald expressed the wish that witnesses had testified when subpoenas were issued in August 2004, and “we would have been here in October 2004 instead of October 2005.”
Gotta hand it to the wingnuts. Not only did they steal the election (again), but they made sure that nary a dissenting word was heard before November ‘04. And our media let them get away with it.
