Fictional History of the United States With Huge Chunks Missing

Think back to those dull history textbooks you were forced to read in high school. With page after page of facts and historical accounts (which you’d only ever use while playing along with a popular TV game show), you found yourself bored to tears, wishing that someday, someone would come up with a more entertaining account of the past (or that the class would be over, you’d get an A, and get the hell out). Either way, A Fictional History of the United States With Huge Chunks Missing attempts to do just that.

This collection of fictional and so-called humorous stories tries to give readers a different glance at the history they’ve learned (and forgotten). Yet, the writers’ attempts at “funny” fall short. Covering a 4,000-year time span, the stories are mediocre, the best part being the introduction to the book. Some pieces are entertaining, yet end bluntly; others are confusing and seem endless, making me actually wish for that textbook I had back in my junior year of high school.

Overall, A Fictional History of the United States With Huge Chunks Missing is an okay read, but has a couple of chunks missing.
