Through Playing Me

NA

Combine the commercial sensibilities of Maroon 5, the singer-songwriter ethos of Gavin DeGraw and the piano virtuosity of Ben Folds and the end result is Through Playing Me by Nathan Angelo.

The whole album is as warm and sunny as a Miami summer’s day and with potential breakout hits such as “Love Sucks” and the title track, it’s no wonder. Producer Stephen Gause gives every song the sort of sonic sheen normally reserved for big budget major label releases, while Angelo provides a sassy, soulful vocal delivery and knockout songs like the outstanding “Escape” and “Leigh,” as well as more traditional soul material like “They Ain’t Far Behind.”

This North Carolina native may well have settled in Atlanta, but with an album as good as Through Playing Me, Angelo could be heading for the big time in LA or New York anytime soon.
