Truth to Power

It’s a start, anyway

Second Republican opposes Bush Iraq plan

WASHINGTON – A second Republican signed onto a Senate resolution on Wednesday opposing President Bush’s 21,500-troop buildup in Iraq, setting a marker for a major clash between the White House and Congress over the unpopular war.

Sen. Olympia Snowe, a moderate from Maine, said she would support a nonbinding resolution that would put the Senate on record as saying the U.S. commitment in Iraq can be sustained only with support from the American public and Congress.</i>

Bush will do what he wants- its the hallmark of his presidency, but this at least is the start of the eventual complete isolation of a man and his policies, which has to occur in order for our nation to attempt to repair the damage he’s done. These republican senators will of course be called appeasers and “surrender monkeys” by those who sell stupid for a living, but they are preaching to an increasingly small choir.

The only way to stop this war is by stopping the president. And the only way to do that is to impeach Bush, Cheney, Gonzales and the rest. This must be done.
