Every Second Counts

Hollywood Records

Ah, yet another pop rock band from Illinois to win over the hearts and CD players of the MTV generation.

Their first single, “Hate (I Really Don’t Like You),” is perhaps the best song in the band’s decade-long career, and perhaps catchiest. Other key tracks include “Friends Don’t Let Friends Dial Drunk” and the mellower “Making a Memory.”

The band’s music has grown immensely; the lyrics, however, are perhaps the best soundtrack to a teenage high school movie that goes directly to DVD. With tracks like “You and Me” and the opening track, “Our Time Now,” the band attempts to get people on their feet with the catchy rhythms, perfect for the summer. All it makes me want to do is listen to something else.

Final thoughts on Every Second Counts? Well, as the band says “Hate is a strong word…” They’ve improved since the last release, but still haven’t reached their full potential.
