Eddie The Rat
Once Around The Butterfly Bush
Edgetone
The ensemble known as Eddie The Rat play a freewheeling kind of folk, unhinged from such sticking points like rhythm, melody and coherence. The 9 tracks on this disc meld into one another making for an almost hour-long melange of sound, none of which is particularly appealing or easy on the ears.
Although it is exciting to hear a band trying out new sounds and homemade instruments like this one, there has to be a little more behind it than what appears to be improvisational warbles. I have to admire their chutzpah, but it doesn’t make me want to recommend this album in any way.
