Gates threatens layoffs, cuts if bill for war funds fails

WASHINGTON – Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates said yesterday that unless Congress passes funding for the Iraq war within days, he will direct the Army and Marine Corps to begin developing plans to lay off employees and terminate contracts early next year.

The bill “would only partially fund our troops . . . but fully embolden our enemies,” White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said.</em>

These people should be drawn and quartered on national television. This obscene rhetoric is an insult to anyone with even half a brain. We spend more on defense than the rest of the world added together- so you have more than enough to observe the will of the people who you claim to serve and bring the troops home now.

Don’t have the cash? Maybe you can figure out what happened to 25% of your funding that you can’t account for, how about?

Or perhaps ya cut missile defense systems and Star Wars gee whiz toys that don’t work?

Pathetic.
