GM to workers: Get lost

GM offers buyouts to 74,000

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) – In an effort to shave ongoing losses, General Motors offered lucrative buyouts Tuesday to 74,000 employees – its entire U.S. hourly workforce.

Here’s a notion for ya, GM. Instead of ruining the lives of 74,000 workers and their families because you can’t produce a product people want to buy, why not look around and see if you can come up with an answer to one of nation’s most pressing issues, reliance on foreign fuels? Taking a peek at your website it seems the best you can do mileage wise is the 34 MPG Aveo, which appears to be a tiny deathtrap.

Go ahead, think big. Make your entire fleet hybrids. Or hydrogen based. Do something…because you will reach a point that no matter how low you pay your wrench monkeys, you aren’t going to survive- because you’re not selling a product that people want to buy. You lost the mantle of #1 worldwide auto sales to Toyota- and in 5-10 years, GM probably won’t exist as a product-producing company at all, only as a financier.

Evolve, or die.
