Before This Winter Ends

Self Released

Post-punk, post-emo, post-shoegazer – that’s where you might peg this interesting grouping of songs featuring intense guitar work, compressed dynamic range, and urgent but unclear vocals. The titles are obscure and seemingly unrelated to the content of the songs. “Panther Panther” opens this short disc with lines like “Cross your mind, cross the globe, cross your heart and hope to die.” Not sure what the song is about; you can sense its seriousness and know you’re supposed to feel bad about something, but what? There’s an intensity of feeling here, but the feeling is set at just sufficient distance to make its cause known, yet not close enough to make you sign a petition.
