Straight No Chaser

CD Review – Headlights (Indie-pop fans unite!)

Wildlife

Polyvinyl Records

Indie-pop trio Headlights is back with more ambient and airy pop that is more contemplative and emotional than their previous work. Tracks like “Teenage Wonder” and “Love Song for Buddy” are more focused and introspective, leaving the listener with either a sense of understanding or confusion. Those who understand, know that the band went through several bandmembers and scrapped virtually an entire album’s worth of material so they could go back as a trio and record this album. Each track was recorded in one take to capture the emotion and intimacy of all 11 songs. While there are no standout singles, the album reels you in and brings you into the world that Headlights has been living. You will come out of this listening experience a much better person.
