Straight No Chaser

CD Review – Annuals (A little bit of everything)

Sweet Sister

Self-Released

This five-song release has a little bit of everything and it’s all good. “Loxtep” is a quirky up-tempo track that sounds like it came of an album by The Bees. “Turncloaking” sounds like an outtake from Radiohead’s Kid A, while the title track is a melding of high energy acoustics and etherial Hawaiian rhythms. “Holler and Howl” sounds like it came straight from a saloon and filtered through a computer. Overall, Annuals take all sorts of genres, twist electronic blips and sounds around them and make the sound completely their own. This is an EP that is guaranteed to get multiple listens.
