CD Review – Ayler Young
Back in the City
Self-Released
The debut from Ayler Young is equal parts acoustic, jazz, blues and classic rock to get the overall “cool” feeling that permeates this record. That’s a good thing.
The title track is a radio hit waiting to happen. It has everything; the perfect beat, infectious melody and Young’s smooth, smoky vocals. Then it’s followed with a Van Morrison-ish “Sweet One.” The jazz piano gets the spotlight on the opener “The Beast” and DJ Logic adds his turntable skills to “Tripping Out.”
Ayler Young’s debut is perfect for anyone who enjoys singer-songwriters of the ’70s like Van Morrison and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.
