with Sirens and Sailors, Dear Desolate, Wake of Charybdis, Amnesty, and Sonder Inspired

The Affiance Says Goodbye-ance Tour, another farewell tour for another band who’s breaking up in 2017, was my first and last time seeing the metalcore band after listening to their music since 2012. It was a bittersweet night, filled with Dennis Tvrdik singing extremely high and roaring guitar solos played by Brett Wondrak and Dominic Dickinson. Not to mention Patrick Galante’s perfect drumming skills.

Many local Floridian bands played beforehand, including Amnesty, Wake Of Charybdis, and Sonder Inspired. Each one of these bands were different. Amnesty were more on the metalcore side, whilst Wake Of Charybdis were straight up death metal. Sonder Inspired were more spoken-word/emo/metalcore.

As more people came trickling into Backbooth, Dear Desolate instantly commanded the crowd to get off their feet. Their sound was so different compared to any other band on the bill. They brought all the nü metal vibes to the tour.

Next up was Sirens and Sailors, a metalcore band from Rochester, New York. As the crowd jumped to every beat and fist bumped the vocalist, Sirens and Sailors truly blew my mind with their energy and charisma.

Affiance was the main band I wanted to see that night, especially since it was their last show ever in Orlando. Even though there were some technical difficulties with the sound, Affiance still rocked it and left me starstruck. At one point during Bohemian, the vocalist Dennis Tvrdik took my glasses and wore them to mimic Matty Mullins of Memphis May Fire (Who featured on the song). The night was filled with laughs and mosh pits and as I left Backbooth, I wished Affiance could stay together, along with the other amazing bands who are breaking up this year. ◼
