Legally Blonde: The Musical

Legally Blond: The Musical

Theater West End, Sanford Florida

Directed by Sophie Cooper

Starring Elle Madelynn Roberts, Emma Licass, and Dal Fossgate

What do you want to be when you grow up? Elle Woods (Roberts) gets into college to study fashion design, but quickly changes her major to law. Her first class is led by the notoriously difficult Professor Callahan (Ta’ryus Wilson). He’s known for chewing up freshmen and spitting them out, and along with the fine points of the legal profession, he teaches his students how to argue in court. Elle and he clash repeatedly, but she not only wins a case, but exonerates a friend.

Yes, you CAN have a life and career and look fabulous while partying with your friends. A first semester law student MIGHT win a major case with her excellent knowledge of fashion, but I’ll cut some slack here. This is, after all, musical theater, and no one is going to do real time. As for the courtroom drama, it’s all underlaid with a high-energy dance score.

Elle’s got the looks and she’s got the energy, and you will find her vivacious and adorable. The men in her life are largely looser, they get ditched at some point, but soldier on to victory.
