Love and Rockets

Lift

Red Ant

Love and Rockets were one of the first bands that completely altered my tastes in music, years and years ago. Over the years, Love and Rockets have gone down some very interesting paths. One of the most mentionable was their trip into the ambient trance of Hot Trip to Heaven, which seemed to fail miserably with fans as well as on the charts. Lift seems to be the second attempt for Love and Rockets to cross over into the electronica/techno arena, and I am happy to say that this time around I think everyone will be happy. There are enough elements from the Express, Earth • Sun • Moon, and Love and Rockets albums to make this very accessible. It’s almost as if they took all the catchiness of “So Alive,” altered it, modernized it, and then shook it up. I couldn’t see why everyone was so enthusiastic about the reunion tour of Bauhaus. Now I’m even more disappointed knowing that in mid-October this is going to be released on the streets to a bunch of kids with empty pockets thanks to paying large sums of money to see something from the past. Let’s move on. This album rocks, and if you can’t see it for yourself, I pity you. http://www.loveandrockets.com Red Ant Records, 904 Melrose Ave., West Hollywood, CA 90069
