Three more from Kid Dynamite, furthering their position as a purveyor of solid, fast, catchy songs. Three songs that aren’t much of a departure from the stuff on their full-length, and for that I am glad. Ex-Lifetime in much the same style, a little more straightforward, a shade of youth crew thrown in the mix. They blend catchy melody with shards of bristley fire so well and keep things moving along. Great songs. And they have a good cover of one of my favorite Black Flag songs, “Rise Above.”
The 88 Fingers Louie songs are actually pretty good. I’ve never really cared for them much, but I like these songs just fine. I think I owe them another listen. Kinda in that Fat Wreck/Epitaph style of melodic punk rock, but with less of that an assembly line feel. Good sung vocals and some emotion going on. A nice split. As with all Sub City releases, a portion of the proceeds go to charity, in this case benefiting the fight against Multiple Sclerosis.
