Liquid Skin

Virgin

Liquid Skin is Gomez’s much-hyped follow-up to their debut, Bring It On . Gomez consists of five young British guys who refer to their own musical style as “psychedelic blues.” They play rock and roll with a bluesy element that falls somewhere between American jam bands like Widespread Panic and European space rockers like the Verve. Ben Ottwell’s distinctive voice might be the most noticeable feature of the band, with his rough, gravelly voice crooning above layered guitars and harmonicas. This is a very good album that rocks as frequently as it slows down into meditative, extended instrumentals. Liquid Skin showcases the band members’ many musical influences, and should be a treat for fans with diverse musical tastes.
